Dear friends and family,
Make a wish foundation interviewed Shelby and decided she would like to swim with the dolphins in Floida. They will try to arrange a trip for her and the family. Shelby has a new radio flyer wagon so she can tour the great outdoors. She will complete the chemo and radiation in the next two weeks. Every day we learn an important lesson from Shelby about life. We find joy in each smile, giggle or gaze. The doctors are saying she will not live to see her seventh birthday. Without a miracle, she will have the privilege of meeting Jesus early. Thank you very much for your continued prayers.

La fundacion “Make a Wish” “Hace un deseo” entrevistan a Shelby y decidia que ella queria nadar con los delfines in el estato Florida. Tratan encargar una viaje para la famila. Tenia Shelby un carro nuevo (Radio Flyer) para ir de viaje afuera al aire libre. Terminare el quimo y radiacion en los proximos dos semanas. Cada dia aprendemos un leccion de la importancia de la vida desde Shelby. Podemos encontrar alegria en cada sonrisa, risas tontamentes o miradas. Se dice los medicos que no va a hacer siete anos. Dear friends and family,
Shelby had an appointment with oncology. Her statistics were pretty good, but they were unable to start reducing steroids. Due to the steroids, she is hungry all the time. Her little cheeks are puffing up pretty big. She wanted a bubble bath really bad yesterday, but cannot have one because of her broviac tube. She is still happy every day. One of the medical team is trying to talk a kid pop star, Shelby’s favorite, into visiting. She is excited about that and dolphins.

Tenia Shelby una cita con oncologia. Estaban bastante bien los estadisticas, pero nu pudieron reducer los esteroides. Por causa los esteroides, tiene hambre todavia como el papa. The steroids are causing the puffing up. The reference to dolphins is that Make a wish foundation will try to put together a trip to Florida for this, doctors and health permitting. The pop star is “Fergie”. I don’t know this one but think she is a child star. Today was a good day for her. She helped me sing a few words of “Little girls with pretty curls”. She knows the song well and was able to throw in with me on some lyrics.

Dear friends and family,
Shelby had a nice weekend. She doesn’t get radiation on weekends, so she can sleep in. She is talking a little better and enjoys every day one smile at a time. Per suggestion of one of one of her prayer group, I located dolphin toys for her. She likes to practice names and play with them. Her radiation and chemotherapy will be over in a week. We will continue to enjoy the blessings of every day.

Tenia un fin de semana buena Shelby. No consigue la radiacion por los fines de semana y ella puede dormir tarde. Habla poquito major y le gusta cada dia una sonrisa a vez. Cari famiglia ed amici,
Shelby ha avuto un fine settimana piacevole. Non ottiene la radiazione sui fine settimana, in modo da puo dormire dentro. Sta comunicando poco un migliore e gode dell'un sorriso giornaliere alla volta. Per suggerimento di uno di uno del suo gruppo di preghiera, gli ho individuato i giocattoli del delfino. Dear friends and family, Shelby’s family will be hosting a root beer float social and fundraiser. The location will be in front of the Food Max store at this coming Sunday between 11AM and 3PM. Family members will attend and Shelby will be on site as long as she is comfortable. Funds will be used to help support the family and help with travel and medicine costs.

April 15, 2008 - Fundraiser Update!

Dear friends and family,
The Rotary club of Citrus Heights and volunteers from Mesa Verde High School worked hard and put on a very nice fund raising event Sunday. Food Max on Sunrise and Woodcreek Oaks donated ice cream and soda. Shelby and the family greeted supporters and had a nice day. Thank you all for your prayers and support. Thanks to the outpouring of support, Shelby’s father has been able to take an extended leave from work and work full time with Stephanie to care for Shelby and her two brothers.

April 20, 2008 - Fundraiser Update!

Dear friends and family,
Last Monday, Shelby graduated from radiation treatment. She will get an MRI at the end of the month. Other than some bad head aches, she appears to be very content and happy. Mom Stephanie wrote a thank you note for all the love, prayers and support, attached above and Shelby’s school did a very successful penny drive to raise money for the family. As always, we continue to be very thankful for your continued prayers and love. We continue to pray for a miracle cure and enjoy the blessings and lessons learned every day.

El lunes pasado, Shelby graduo de la radioterapia. Ella conseguira un MRI al final del mes. Con excepcion de algunos malos dolores principales, ella aparece ser muy contenta y feliz. La mama Stephanie le escribio a agradecimiento para observar por todo el amor, rezos y la ayuda, atada arriba y la escuela de Shelby hizo una alevador de fondo muy acertada del moneta “pennies” para levantar el dinero para la familia. Ultimo lunedi, Shelby ha rifinito il suo trattamento radioattivo. Otterra un MRI alla fine del mese. Tranne alcuni dolori capi difettosi, sembra essere molto felice. La mamma lo ha scritto ad un ringraziamento per notare per tutto l'amore, preghiere ed il supporto, allegato sopra e scuola dello Shelby ha fatto un riuscito azionamento della moneta per raccogliere i fondi per la famiglia. Today Shelby went to the doctor. She was given asthma treatments and a machine for home. She also has been practicing drawing pictures with her working hand. I attached her picture.

family and friends,
Shelby will get an MRI this week, which will tell us about the condition of the tumor. We are prayerfully hopeful that the results are good. She has suffered some leg cramps and head aches but is otherwise doing well. I have attached Shelby’s little song that I made up years back and sing to her regularly. I scribbled out the music and my dear friend Jean Brine composed it for us. Feel free to share it.

Shelby’s MRI results were not good. The doctor told us that she only has about 3 months to live. Her mother and father will proceed with experimental drug therapy, which may extend her life a short while. This will be the last update for a while as it is getting more difficult to think about her condition. Please continue to pray for Shelby.

Dear family and friends,
Shelby started a new chemotherapy and experimental drug therapy last week. She is doing better, swelling in the face is reduced, she can communicate better, she feels better. This should improve the quality of life for a while. As always, she is in good spirits and a delightful little girl.

Dear family and friends,
Shelby was due for her chemotherapy treatment today but could not have it since her blood platelets were too low. She may need a transfusion before she can resume therapy. She is deteriorating and we fear she has a short time left with us. Shelby had a few days of joy over the last week. Shelby was crowned honorary princess by Mrs. Sacramento. She was invited to a River Cat ball game and met the mascot. Shelby met bicycle riders from team-will.com who will ride across the country for cancer awareness and showcase her story. As always, she is delightful and pleasant. Her parents are working very hard to keep her comfortable in her last days. Thank you all for your prayers and please continue.

Shelby era oggi dovuto per il suo trattamento di chemioterapia ma non potrebbe averlo poiche le sue piastrine di anima erano troppo basse. Shelby se debio para su tratamiento con quimioterapia hoy pero podría no tenerlo ya sus las plaquetas de la sangre eran demasiado bajos. Ella tenga una transfusion antes de que ella puede reanudar la terapia. Ella se deteriora y nos tememos que tiene un poco de la izquierda con nosotros. Shelby tenía unos dias de alegria durante la ultima semana. Shelby fue coronada Princesa Honoraria por la Sra. Ciudad Sacramento. Dear family and friends,
After considerable suffering, Shelby finally has morphine. She was admitted to the hospital today and began the morphine treatment to reduce pain. They took an X ray to look for cancer in the bones and due to an appointment; I wasn’t present to hear the results. Our little angle will likely be born into eternal life within a couple weeks. Thank you for your continued prayers.

Shelby continues on with the spirit of a fighter. She stays sharp by watching us count her money for her. She is communicating by squeezing a finger when we guess the right thing. The doctors say she doesn’t have long to live so we are making the most of every day. As always, thank you for your prayers.

Dear family and friends,
Shelby’s prognosis remains the same, however, we she has had a few excellent days. Recently, Shelby’s feeding tube was used for a week to draw gas from her stomach. After going without food for a week she can eat again and is feeling much better. Prayers must be helping. Friends of “Team Will”, Ernie and Amber visited and brought gifts and interviewed her and her parents for possible use in a future documentary. Shelby’s story has been highlighted by “Team Will” in a cross country bicycle ride recently. She has a link on the website at www.caringbridge.org. Dear family and friends,
Shelby will be released from the hospital Tuesday so hospice can keep her as comfortable as possible at home in her last days. The efforts of Sutter Memorial Hospital have helped significantly in extending her life and providing her with more comfort. She has been very blessed to have the continued use of her left hand and arm while the rest of her body is mostly paralyzed. Shelby continues to collect dollar bills and we pay a toll to see her. She delights in adding a dollar to her growing collection. She is very smart and continues to keep count in her head and tries to count with us. Shelby has also amassed a significant collection of stuffed animals and they almost crowd her out of her room. She has been feeling very ill the last few days but continues to smile when she can. Thank you for your continued prayers.

Ella se deleita en Agregar un dolar a su coleccion cada vez mayor. Ella es muy inteligente y se sigue tener conteo en la cabeza y se intenta contar con nosotros. Shelby ha amasados tambien una importante coleccion de animales de peluche y casi aglomero le fuera de su habitacion. Ella ha sido malestar muy los ultimos dias, pero continua sonrisa cuando ella puede. Gracias por sus oraciones constantes.

Famiglia e amici,
Shelby sara liberato dall'ospedale martedi in modo da il centro ospedaliero puo mantenerlo comoda come possibile nel paese in suoi ultimi giorni. Gli sforzi dell'ospedale commemorativo di Sutter hanno aiutato significativamente nel prolungare la sua vita e nel fornirle la piu comodita. Molto e stata benedetta per avere l'uso continuato della sua mano sinistra e per munire mentre il resto del suo corpo principalmente e paralizzato. Shelby continua a raccogliere le fatture del dollaro e paghiamo un tributo per vederli. Si diletta nell'aggiunta del dollaro alla sua accumulazione crescente. E molto astuta e continua a mantenere il conteggio in sua testa e prova a contare con noi. Shelby inoltre ha raccolto una collezione significativa di animali farciti e quasi la ammucchiano dalla sua stanza. Sta ritenendo molto malata gli ultimi giorni ma continua a sorridere quando puo. Grazie per le vostre preghiere continuate.

Dear family and friends,
We were blessed to have our Shelby with us the entire month of August. She has recently deteriorated significantly and must be heavily sedated to keep from crying constantly. She can no longer swallow or talk and is miserable while awake. The hospice nurses have been the very best in assisting with her home care and Shelby’s mom and dad have been with her non stop giving her the best care and constant love. Hospice tells us we are down to the last few days or a couple weeks and to prepare for her passing. Please pray for her comfort in these last days.

Nos fueron bendecidos que nuestro Shelby con nosotros todo el mes de agosto. Ella recientemente se ha deteriorado considerablemente y debe ser fuertemente sedada para impedir el llanto constantemente. Ella ya no puede deglutir o hablar y es miserable mientras despierto. Las enfermeras hospicio han sido los mejores en ayudar a su atencion en el hogar y Shelby la mama y papa han sido con su parada no dar a su el mejor atencion y amor constante. Ci sono Stati fortuna avere avere nostro Shelby con noi il mese intero di agosto. Ha recentemente si e deteriorata in modo significativo e deve essere fortemente sedated per mantenere costantemente piangere. Ha piu possibile ingoiare o parlare ed e misera mentre e attivo. Le infermiere hospice sono i migliori auguri per assistere con sua cura d'origine e I mama e papa sono state con sua interruzione non dare lei il cure migliori e l'amore costante. Hospice ci dice che siamo cui per questi ultimi giorni o settimane un paio e per prepararsi alla sua approvazione. Vi prego pregare per la sua comodita in questi ultimi giorni.

Dear family and friends,
Shelby was born into eternal life this morning about 6 a.m. she will suffer no more. Her mother and father spent the night sleeping next to her and holding her hand. She went, knowing how much she is loved. I was blessed Sunday evening to get some quiet moans in affirmation to telling her again how much I love her and giving her lots of kisses. She will be painfully missed by many. Father O Conner said prayers and our friends from hospice were with us through it all. Shelby taught many of us the value of life in a way we will never forget. Services are being planned and will be posted soon.

Estimados amigos,
Shelby nacio en la vida eterna esta manana sobre 6 por la manana. sufriran no mas. Su madre y el padre dedicado a la noche dormir junto a ella. Shelby continuo, saber cuanto ella es amaba. Fue bendecido el domingo noche para obtener algunos ruidos ‘moans’ tranquilos en la afirmacion a diciendo le nuevo cuanto me encanta le y dando sus muchos besos. Ella le echara dolorosamente por muchos. Padre O Conner dijo oraciones y nuestros amigos de hospicio eran con nosotros a traves de ella todos. Shelby ensenado a muchos de nosotros el valor de la vida de una manera que nunca olvidaremos. Servicios se han previsto y se contabilizara pronto.

Shelby e nata questa mattina sulla 6 del mattino che ella subiranno piu in vita eterna. Sua madre e padre trascorso la notte dormire accanto a lei e la detenzione suo lato. Ella ha, sapendo quanto ella e amata. E stato fortuna avere domenica sera per ottenere alcuni moans silenzio affermazione a lei dice ancora una volta quanto mi piace lei e dando il suoi partite di bacios.
